Why You're NOT A Millionaire

I was asked an interesting question over the holiday weekend. A woman told me her story about starting a business. While she had all the right tools and building blocks in place, ten years had gone by and she wasn't even close to breaking the bank - never mind reach her goal to be a millionaire. She asked me why I thought this was. I told her the same things I am sharing here. If you're not reaching your millionaire goal, keep reading....
1. All you think about is money. You can't think of money so much that you stop thinking about strategy or customer service. If you are more concerned about money than your actual product or services, you are going to have many problems.
2. You're not overly helpful. Yes, helpful. This may be the key to success in addition to the key of making yourself a millionaire. You see, the more people you help- the more people will help you. If you help your employees, they will be more loyal. They will have a sense of ownership over your company. They will forever promote it. Same with vendors, people you meet on the street, etc.
3. You're not honest about your progress. If you are unwilling to track your own progress and hear client or peer feedback (and then do something about it), then you are unwilling to make a million dollars. You have to be accountable, you have to be ready for growth. This isn't possible if you don't track your own progress.
To you first million!

Fighting and Business.....
I read this statement today and sat on it. It hit me hard because Bobby talks about how running a business is like getting into a boxing ring each and everyday. The key is knowing when to get out of the ring or when to stay in and fight. As business owners we will encounter daily conflict. This doesn’t mean we have to engage into a conflict everyday. There is something to be said about the above statement.
Walking away from conflict is easier said than done. Chosing your battles wisely will be the difference between failure and success for you. If a conflict is minor, meaning it isn’t going to harm your company regardless if you win or lose, let it go. That fight isn’t worth it. However, if you are engaged in a battle that can harm your business – at the advise of a lawyer- then a fight must proceeed.
I am writing a book on failures in business right now and addressing the issue of fights won but businesses being lost as a result will be included in a chapter. If you have a similar story then I want to hear from you.
Until tomorrow,

How Your Mornings Are Not Yours!
Simply don’t check your emails in the morning. Make it a rule and stick to it, which will be hard. If you aren’t due unto work until 9am, make sure you stay away from emails until 10am. You will be more productive than answering emails from the time you wake up until the time you go to sleep. You do need you time, which is hard in today’s multi-media and social media culture.
Start with Monday. Set a rule for your phone to disallow emails until 10am. Try it for two days and see how you feel. I promise, you will feel as if you have your mornings back!
Until Monday,

3 Ways to Be Productive in the Morning.
So, how do you maximize the most of your a.m. time? I’ve come up with three solid tips that truly help me and should help you.
#1. Think about your day before you start it. Easier said than done with all the social media and email distractions, right?! I found if I break my day into three sections (big projects, email and phone calls, light work) throughout the day (morning, noon, evening), that the pressure of having to do everything all at once goes away and my mornings are easier.
#2. Don’t review your email before noon. As stated above, you should section out your day. If you open emails before noon, any big projects you have to work on could get bumped because someone wrote an email that sounded urgent. If someone has an urgent project, they will call you if an email isn’t responded to quickly enough. Otherwise, put email on the back burner until the afternoon.
#3. Check the temperature of your work environment. That’s right, if your workspace is too hot in the morning (or any time for that matter), productivity will suffer. Make sure your office isn’t too cold or too hot.
Well, that’s it for my tips. Connect with me on social media and let’s discuss if , after implementing these tips, your mornings are more organized.
Until next time,
Twyla

Business Opportunities for 2013!
First, start with the organic foods market. Americans spent over 59 million dollars last year on organic products. This number is expected to double in 2013. So, if you can, invest in organics!
Consider a bike store. If you invest in a bike store, chances are you will see a return within two years. Last year there were over 2.44 billion bicycling outings scheduled in our country. And, mountain bikes (racing bikes, too) are not cheap. The average cost is around six hundred dollars. You do the math! Cycling is still growing, making this activity a great investment opportunity.
My last recommendation will be in pet farewell products and services. it sounds morbid, but great products are still needed to help pet owners say their final goodbyes to their furry friends. In fact, cemeteries for pets in the U.S. brought in $52.87 billion in 2012. This does not include all the figures for memorial plaques, wind chimes, and more. If someone approaches you with this opportunities, don't laugh. This industry rakes in serious money.
So, if you have the chance to invest in any of these markets- consider it. Do your research and speak with the right attorney.
